Coromandel, Bay of Plenty, Taupo, Gisborne and Hawke's Bay Fine apart from isolated afternoon and evening showers. Thunderstorms and localised downpours possible from Rotorua and eastern Taupo eastwards today. Thunderstorms confined to far northeastern Bay of Plenty and northern Gisborne tomorrow.
Remainder of the North Island, also Marlborough and Nelson Generally fine. Isolated inland showers north of Taihape this afternoon and evening, possibly thundery in Northland.
Buller to Westland Isolated showers, mainly about the ranges. Showers increasing later tomorrow.
Canterbury Mainly fine with coastal low cloud at night and in the morning. Isolated afternoon and evening showers, possibly thundery near the foothills south of the Rakaia River today.
Otago and Southland Scattered showers. Thunderstorms with hail possible this afternoon and evening, mainly in the east.
Fiordland Periods of rain. Thunderstorms possible from tomorrow evening.
Chatham Islands Mainly fine. Some low cloud and the odd shower later tomorrow.
