    Marine Weather Situation and Forecast issued at 1104hrs Tuesday 09-Dec-2025 by MetService
    Situation: A ridge persists over the North Island today and tomorrow, while weakening fronts are affecting the South Island. Another front, which is followed by a change to strong southwesterlies, brings areas of rain to the southern and eastern South Island on Thursday. Meanwhile, a weak ridge of high pressure persists over the North Island, keeping a subtropical low pressure system to the northeast of the North Island at arm's length. A strong southwesterly flow spreads northwards over New Zealand on Friday, then weakens on Saturday as the high moves onto the country from the Tasman Sea.

    Wednesday: Variable 5 knots, becoming southeast 10 knots for a time in the morning. Southwest 10 knots developing for a time in the afternoon and evening. Sea slight but choppy when wind opposes tide. Mainly fine. For the west coast: Southwest swell 1.5 metres.

    Saturday: Southeast 10 knots, easing to variable 5 knots later. Fine. For the west coast: Southwest swell 2 metres easing.

    Wednesday: Easterly 15 knots, becoming southeast 15 knots but 10 knots south of Whangaparaoa in the morning. Rising to southeast 15 knots everywhere for a time in the afternoon. Sea slight. Mainly fine.
    Thursday: Southeast 15 knots but 10 knots south of Whangaparaoa easing to southeast 10 knots everywhere in the morning, then turning southwest 15 knots in the afternoon. Fine.
    Friday: Southwest 20 knots, turning southeast 15 knots later. Fine.
    Saturday: Southeast 15 knots, easing to variable 5 knots early. Becoming northeast 10 knots later. Fine.

    Tuesday: Easterly 10 knots, rising to 15 knots this afternoon, then easing to 10 knots for a time early evening, before rising to easterly 20 knots about Colville Channel late evening. Sea becoming moderate about the channel late evening. Mainly fine, a few cloudy periods. Northeast swell 1 metre developing.
    Wednesday: Easterly 15 knots but southeast 20 knots about Colville Channel. Rising to southeast 20 knots but 25 knots gusting 35 knots about the Channel in the morning. Easing to back to southeast 15 knots but 20 knots about the Channel in the evening. Sea becoming rough about Colville Channel in the morning, easing evening. Mainly fine. Northeast swell 1 metre rising to 1.5 metres.
    Thursday: Southeast 15 knots but 20 knots about Colville Channel, easing to southeast 15 knots everywhere in the morning, then turning southwest 20 knots in the evening. Fine. Northeast swell 2 metres easing.
    Friday: Southwest 25 knots, easing to southerly 15 knots later. Partly cloudy. Easterly swell 1 metre dying out.
    Saturday: Southeast 20 knots, becoming northeast 10 knots later. Fine. Easterly swell 1 metre developing.
