On Wednesday, the ridge crosses the North Island followed by a showery westerly flow for the country, with embedded fronts affecting the South Island. A showery southwesterly flow affects New Zealand on Thursday, followed by a building ridge. On Friday and Saturday, the ridge lies over the North Island, while an active front moves northeast over the South Island, bringing strong northwesterlies and heavy rain. Forecast for The Bay of Islands and inshore waters from Cape Brett to the Poor Knights Islands to Bream Head * Strong wind advisory in force * Tuesday: Northwest 25 knots gusting 35 knots, becoming westerly 20 knots gusting 30 knots in the afternoon, easing to southwest 15 knots in the evening. Sea rough, easing in the afternoon. Cloudy periods with poor visibility in rain for a time late morning and afternoon. Northerly swell half a metre rising to 1 metre.
