Meanwhile, a trough embedded in a strong northwesterly flow should bring rain to southern New Zealand tomorrow. On Wednesday, the trough moves out to the east and most of New Zealand lies under a high. The high moves slowly eastwards on Thursday. A front, possibly with a low, is expected to move onto the South Island during Friday. At the same time, a low over the north Tasman Sea may move onto the north of the North Island.
