    Friday:
    Southwest 25 knots, easing to 15 knots early afternoon. Changing northeast 20 knots in the evening. Rough sea easing. Long period southwest swell rising to 2 metres. Fair visibility in scattered showers clearing in the morning.

    Saturday:
    Northerly 20 knots, rising to 35 knots north of Kaikoura Peninsula in the afternoon. Sea becoming very rough in the north. Moderate southerly swell dying out. Moderate northeast swell developing.

    Sunday:
    Becoming northeast 50 knots but northerly 40 knots north of Kaikoura Peninsula early. Sea becoming high. Moderate northeast swell.

    Monday:
    Becoming northerly 20 knots but 30 knots north of Kaikoura Peninsula early. High sea easing. Moderate northeast swell easing.
