Meanwhile, a trough embedded in a strong northwesterly flow should bring rain to southern New Zealand tomorrow. On Wednesday, the trough moves out to the east and most of New Zealand lies under a high. The high moves slowly eastwards on Thursday. A front, possibly with a low, is expected to move onto the South Island during Friday. At the same time, a low over the north Tasman Sea may move onto the north of the North Island. Forecast for Inshore waters from Lyttelton Harbour to the Waimakariri River mouth Nil warnings Monday: Variable 5 knots. Easterly 15 knots developing in the afternoon, then easing to 10 knots in the evening. Sea slight. Cloudy periods. Easterly swell half a metre.
