On Monday the deep low near the Chatham Islands moves away to the east, and the strong cold southerly flow over New Zealand eases as a ridge of high pressure spreads slowly onto the country. On Tuesday northerlies strengthen ahead of a front in the Tasman Sea. The front crosses the country on Wednesday as another low in the Tasman Sea approaches. Forecast issued at 0325hrs Saturday 07-Jun-2025 Valid to 7 am Saturday for Inshore waters from Great Mercury Island to Mayor Island to Matakana Island. Saturday: Westerly 15 knots, easing to variable 5 knots early morning. Southerly 20 knots developing late morning. Easing to southerly 15 knots in the afternoon and to southwest 10 knots in the evening. Sea becoming moderate for a time late morning and early afternoon. Poor visibility in showers, clearing in the afternoon. Northeast swell 1.5 metres. Outlook until midnight Tuesday: Sunday: Southwest 10 knots, easing to variable 5 knots in the morning.
