    Recreational Marine: Hawke Bay
    Marine Weather Situation and Forecast issued at 1104hrs Monday 09-Feb-2026 by MetService

    Situation:
    A ridge of high pressure covers most of New Zealand today. Meanwhile, a trough embedded in a strong northwesterly flow should bring rain to southern New Zealand tomorrow. On Wednesday, the trough moves out to the east and most of New Zealand lies under a high. The high moves slowly eastwards on Thursday. A front, possibly with a low, is expected to move onto the South Island during Friday. At the same time, a low over the north Tasman Sea may move onto the north of the North Island.

    Forecast for Inshore waters between Cape Kidnappers and Portland Island

    * Strong wind advisory in force *

    Monday: Variable 5 knots. Easterly 20 knots developing in the afternoon, easing to northeast 15 knots in the evening. Sea becoming moderate for a time. Partly cloudy. Chance of a shower. Southerly swell 1 metre easing to half a metre. Easterly swell half a metre.
    Tuesday: Northeast 15 knots, rising to 25 knots gusting 35 knots in the afternoon. Changing northwest 15 knots in the evening. Sea becoming rough for a time in the afternoon. Cloudy periods with poor visibility in showers. Possible thunderstorms from afternoon. Southerly swell half a metre rising to 1 metre. Easterly swell half a metre rising to 1 metre.
    Wednesday: Northwest 15 knots, changing easterly 10 knots in the morning. Fine. Southerly swell 1 metre. Easterly swell 1 metre dying out.
    Thursday: Northeast 10 knots, rising to 20 knots early. Fine. Southerly swell 1 metre.
    Friday: Northeast 20 knots. Partly cloudy. Southeast swell 1 metre dying out.
