On Wednesday, the ridge crosses the North Island followed by a showery westerly flow for the country, with embedded fronts affecting the South Island. A showery southwesterly flow affects New Zealand on Thursday, followed by a building ridge. On Friday and Saturday, the ridge lies over the North Island, while an active front moves northeast over the South Island, bringing strong northwesterlies and heavy rain. Forecast for Inshore waters from Waitarere to Pukerua Bay and out to Kapiti Island Nil warnings Tuesday: Northwest 15 knots. Changing to southerly 20 knots late morning, then easing to 10 knots in the evening. Sea becoming moderate for a time late morning and afternoon. Poor visibility in showers, clearing in the evening. Northwest swell 1 metre easing to half a metre. Wednesday: Southerly 10 knots easing to variable 5 knots early morning. Westerly 20 knots developing in the morning. Partly cloudy.
