    Recreational Marine: Kapiti
    Marine Weather Situation and Forecast issued at 1128hrs Sunday 09-Nov-2025 by MetService

    Situation:
    A weak ridge of high pressure lies over the country today and then moves away to the east tomorrow. Meanwhile a frontal system associated with a low in the Tasman Sea approaches the South Island today and moves across the country tomorrow. On Tuesday a front moves northwards over the North Island, while a ridge of high pressure builds over the country behind the front. On Wednesday, a low over the north Tasman Sea moves southwards onto the North Island, while a weakening front over the Tasman Sea reaches Fiordland late in the day. During Thursday, the low moves southeastwards over northern and central New Zealand. On Friday, the low pressure system moves to the east of the country, while a front moves quickly over southern and central New Zealand.

    Forecast for Inshore waters from Waitarere to Pukerua Bay and out to Kapiti Island

    * Strong wind advisory in force *

    Sunday: Northerly 10 knots but 15 knots south of Kapiti Island. Sea slight. Cloud breaking to fine in the afternoon. Westerly swell 1 metre easing to half a metre.
    Monday: Northerly 10 knots but 15 knots south of Kapiti Island. Rising to northerly 15 knots but 20 knots in the south in the afternoon. Becoming northwest 25 knots gusting 35 knots everywhere in the evening. Sea becoming rough in the evening. A few showers from late morning, with poor visibility in evening rain, with some heavy falls possible.
    Tuesday: Northwest 25 knots, easing to variable 5 knots in the morning. Becoming southeast 10 knots in the evening. Partly cloudy. Westerly swell 2 metres easing.
    Wednesday: Southeast 10 knots, easing to variable 5 knots early. Partly cloudy. Westerly swell 1 metre dying out.
    Thursday: Variable 5 knots, becoming southerly 15 knots early. Rain, turning to showers.
