Recreational Marine: Kapiti Marine Weather Situation and Forecast issued at 1632hrs Saturday 07-Mar-2026 by MetService Situation: A ridge of high pressure persists over the North Island today and tomorrow. Meanwhile, a front over Fiordland remains slow moving today, then becomes energised tomorrow morning and spreads over the lower South Island through Sunday. A weakening front moves northeast over central New Zealand on Monday. On Tuesday a high lies east of the South Island while a low is northwest of the North Island. On Wednesday, an easterly flow affects the upper North Island while a ridge of high pressure covers the rest of the nation. Forecast for Inshore waters from Waitarere to Pukerua Bay and out to Kapiti Island Nil warnings Saturday: Northeast 10 knots but 20 knots south of Te Horo, easing to 15 knots in the south in the evening. Sea moderate in the south, easing in the evening. Cloudy periods. Northwest swell 1 metre easing to half a metre. Sunday: Northeast 10 knots but 15 knots south of Te Horo. Sea slight. Partly cloudy. Chance of a shower in the morning and afternoon. Northwest swell half a metre rising to 1 metre. Monday: Northerly 10 knots, changing southerly 15 knots in the morning. A few showers.
