Recreational Marine: Kapiti Marine Weather Situation and Forecast issued at 0614hrs Wednesday 11-Feb-2026 by MetService Situation: High pressure builds today over the whole country as the trough moves away to the east of the South Island. The high then moves slowly eastwards on Thursday. A front, possibly a low, is expected to move onto the South Island during Friday, while another low over the north Tasman Sea is expected to move onto the North Island, shifting just offshore East Cape on Saturday and deepens. A disturbed southerly flow is expected to affect the North Island on Sunday as the low moves offshore Gisborne. Forecast for Inshore waters from Waitarere to Pukerua Bay and out to Kapiti Island Nil warnings Wednesday: Northeast 15 knots, easing to variable 5 knots this morning. Southeast 15 knots developing for a time this evening. Sea slight. Morning cloud clearing and becoming fine. Westerly swell half a metre. Thursday: Variable 5 knots.
