On Wednesday, the ridge crosses the North Island followed by a showery westerly flow for the country, with embedded fronts affecting the South Island. A showery southwesterly flow affects New Zealand on Thursday, followed by a building ridge. On Friday and Saturday, the ridge lies over the North Island, while an active front moves northeast over the South Island, bringing strong northwesterlies and heavy rain. Forecast for Inshore waters from Pukerua Bay to Makara Beach Nil warnings Tuesday: Northerly 20 knots gusting 30 knots. Changing southerly 20 knots gusting 30 knots in the morning, easing to 10 knots in the evening. Moderate sea easing. Poor visibility in rain, clearing in the afternoon. Northwest swell 1 metre easing to half a metre. Wednesday: Southerly 10 knots, becoming northwest 15 knots in the morning, rising to 25 knots in the afternoon. Partly cloudy.
