    Marine Weather Situation and Forecast issued at 1135hrs Tuesday 01-Jul-2025 by MetService

    Strong wind advisory for Manukau Harbour, Hauraki Gulf, Waitemata Harbour and Bream Head to Cape Colville

    Situation:
    A large ridge of high pressure covers most of the country today, and weakens over central and southern New Zealand tomorrow. Meanwhile, showery westerlies continue in the far south, while a moist northeasterly flow develops over northern New Zealand, followed by an approaching front. On Thursday, a front moves southeastwards over northern and central New Zealand bringing heavy rain and strong northeast winds to many regions. On Friday, the front moves east of the country. On Saturday, a low in the Tasman Sea moves onto the North Island while a weak ridge moves onto southern New Zealand.

    Valid to 11 am Tuesday for Manukau and Waitemata Harbours, Hauraki Gulf and Bream Head to Cape Colville.

    For Manukau Harbour:
    Tuesday: Variable 5 knots. Southerly 10 knots developing for a time this morning and afternoon. Sea slight. Mainly fine. For the west coast - Southwest swell 2.5 metres.
    Wednesday: Variable 5 knots. Easterly 10 knots developing early morning, then rising to northeast 15 knots around midday. Rising to northeast 20 knots in the afternoon, then to 25 knots gusting 35 knots about Manukau Entrance late evening. Sea becoming rough about Manukau Entrance late evening. Cloudy, with fair visibility in a few afternoon and evening showers. For the west coast - Southwest swell 2.5 metres, easing to 1.5 metres.
    Thursday: Northeast 25 knots rising to northerly 35 knots around midday, then easing to northerly 10 knots by evening. Rain, clearing. For the west coast - Westerly swell rising to 2 metres.
    Friday: Northerly 10 knots. Showers developing. For the west coast - Westerly swell 2 metres.
    Saturday: Northwest 10 knots, easing to variable 5 knots later. Showers, clearing. For the west coast - Westerly swell rising to 3 metres.

    For Waitemata Harbour:
    Tuesday: Variable 5 knots. Southerly 10 knots developing this morning, then easing to variable 5 knots by early evening. Sea slight. Mainly fine.
    Wednesday: Variable 5 knots. Easterly 10 knots developing in the morning, then rising to northeast 15 knots but 20 knots about Motukorea Channel around midday. Rising to northeast 20 knots everywhere early evening, then to 25 knots gusting 35 knots about Motukorea Channel late evening. Sea becoming rough about Motukorea Channel late evening. Cloudy, with fair visibility in a few afternoon and evening showers.
    Thursday: Northeast 25 knots rising to northerly 35 knots around midday, then easing to northerly 10 knots by evening. Rain, easing.
    Friday: Northerly 15 knots. Showers developing.
    Saturday: Northerly 10 knots, becoming southwest 10 knots later. Showers developing.

    For Hauraki Gulf:
    Tuesday: Southerly 10 knots, easing to variable 5 knots by early evening. Sea slight. Mainly fine.
    Wednesday: Variable 5 knots. Northeast 15 knots developing in the morning, then rising to 20 knots in the afternoon. Rising to northeast 25 knots gusting 35 knots in the outer gulf early evening then everywhere late evening. Sea becoming rough everywhere late evening. Cloudy, with fair visibility in a few afternoon and evening showers. Northeast swell 1 metre developing.
    Thursday: Northeast 25 knots rising to northerly 35 knots in the morning, easing to northerly 10 knots in the afternoon. Showers. Northerly swell 1 metre.
    Friday: Northerly 15 knots. Showers developing. Northerly swell 1 metre dying out.
    Saturday: Northwest 15 knots, turning southerly 15 knots late. Showers, clearing.

    For Bream Head to Cape Colville:
    Tuesday: Southerly 10 knots, easing to variable 5 knots early evening, then easterly 10 knots developing late evening. Sea slight. Mainly fine. Easterly swell 1.5 metres, easing to 1 metre.
    Wednesday: Easterly 10 knots, rising to northeast 20 knots in the morning, then to 25 knots gusting 35 knots early evening. Sea becoming rough early evening. Mostly cloudy, with fair visibility in a few showers developing in the morning. Northeast swell 1 metre, rising to 1.5 metres.
    Thursday: Northeast 25 knots rising to northerly 35 knots in the morning, easing to 20 knots in the afternoon. Showers. Northeast swell 1.5 metres, rising 3 metres.
    Friday: Northerly 15 knots. Fine. Northerly swell 2 metres easing.
    Saturday: Northwest 20 knots, turning southwest 20 knots late. Showers developing. Northerly swell 1 metre.
