    Marine Weather Situation and Forecast issued at 1135hrs Thursday 03-Apr-2025 by MetService

    Nil for PLENTY

    Situation:
    A deep low west of Fiordland moves southeast over the next couple of days, while a strong and moist northerly flow affects New Zealand. An associated front moves east across South Island today and the North Island tomorrow, followed by a trough and southwesterlies. A ridge of high pressure moves over New Zealand on Saturday. On Sunday, a low over the Tasman Sea approaches central New Zealand, followed by a broad trough on Monday.

    Forecast issued at 1133hrs Thursday 03-Apr-2025
    Valid to 11 am Thursday for Inshore waters from Matakana Island to Mayor Island to Motiti Island and then east to Torere River mouth.
    Strong wind advisory.
    Thursday: Northeast 15 knots, rising to 20 knots gusting 30 knots this afternoon, and to 25 knots gusting 35 knots late evening. Sea becoming rough late evening. Cloudy. Poor visibility in drizzle, turning into rain from early evening. Northeast swell 1 metre.
    Friday: Northerly 25 knots gusting 35 knots, easing to westerly 15 knots in the evening. Rough sea easing in the evening. Poor visibility in rain, turning into showers in the afternoon. Northerly swell rising to 2 metres.

    Outlook until midnight Monday:
    Saturday: Westerly 10 knots. Fine. Northerly swell 2 metres easing.
    Sunday: Southwest 10 knots, easing to variable 5 knots early. Becoming
    northwest 15 knots later. A few showers developing. Northerly swell 1
    metre.
    Monday: Westerly 20 knots. Fine. Northerly swell 1 metre dying out.
